Ministries

Our church is vibrant and active. Our ministries in the parish find their meaning and strength in the liturgy that is celebrated. The EUCHARIST is the ‘source and summit’ of who we are, and, what we do, as a faith community.

There are many ways, both big and small, to get involved in our church ministry. The parish invites you to answer the ‘call to serve’ and help us build the Kingdom of God, here on the North Shore.
Please feel free to contact any of the Ministry Leaders listed below.

Baptism

Preparation class is necessary for parents and godparents. Class meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at St. Michael Church. The Baptism is celebrated on the last Sunday of the month at both St. Michael (!0.00am) and Sts. Peter and Paul (9.30am). Please call the Rectory (637 4040) to make an appointment with either Fr. Bert or Fr. Johnathan.

Funeral

This is an extremely painful time in the life of grieving loved ones. Please know of our prayers and support. Funeral arrangements are made with the cooperation of the mortuary and St. Michael. Once a month they give a talk followed by discussion on faith related topics both from a theological and scriptural viewpoint. Check out the calendar for the next speaker and topic. All are welcome!

SMaPPy (Sts. Michael and Peter & Paul Youth)

Last year (2008) our leaders along with Fr. Johnathan took the youth and young adults to Australia for WYD’08. It was a fantastic experience which brought home not only how ‘alive’ the faith is in our young people, but, also the ‘universality’ of the faith. It is truly a worldwide lived reality. The St Michael and Peter/Paul Youth (SMaPPy) seeks to perpetuate the ‘joy’ of being Catholic in our Youth. Through socials, spiritual activities (retreats etc) and service (primarily assisting the parish help the homeless population), we hope to bring alive the great faith that we have been privy to inherit. Contact Karl or any of the leaders above for more information and watch the updates for upcoming events.

This is a ministry which includes Bible sharing, service and socializing as young adults. Please contactany of the above leaders for information.

The Roman Catholic Church continues the mission handed on to the Apostles “Go out into the world and make disciples [Jeremy – check quote and insert source – Matthew vs?]. If you are interested in deepening your faith as a Catholic please feel welcome to join our two year RCIA program. Contact Susan Scarleski or Priscilla Tampon [Jeremy phone numbers?? In the near future, this committee will be looking at affordable housing, especially for those children without homes. Please check our blog and calendar for upcoming days of assistance to our sisters and brothers living in cars and tents.
